What is Workcamp?
First English Lutheran Church has partnered with Group Mission Trips to sponsor a Workcamp in Metro Detroit from July 13-17. Workcamp brings hundreds of teens from church groups across the country to perform free home repairs for people in need.
Repairs range from building porches, wheelchair ramps, steps, and handrails to interior and exterior painting. Beyond the physical transformation that happens in communities, Workcampers bring the hope and joy of Jesus to the residents they serve.
Workcampers are housed at a Grosse Pointe public school and will enjoy our community amenities during their time off. Please join us in supporting this ministry and including Workcamp in your prayers!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already dedicated their time to prepare for an incredible week of Workcamp! Your efforts are invaluable, and there's still an exciting journey ahead. We invite you to join us in this final push—every hour, whether it’s 2 or 122, makes a difference. Together, we can create something truly special. May you be filled with God’s peace today and every day! Your support means the world to us! Thank you!

Workcamp in Grosse Pointe Woods in 2024
First English Church hosted their first Workcamp in 2024. We welcomed 184 youth from nine churches across six states. The youth and adult leaders formed 31 crews that helped complete repairs on 24 homes. They worked 5,520 hours of service to complete 100% of the work!
All of the participants stayed at Grosse Pointe North High School. Their week was full of fun and energy as they engaged in indoor and outdoor games, shared meals together, and participated in worship and teaching in morning and evening programs.
