Adult Sunday School - Sundays 9-10am |
|
While our regularly scheduled Sunday School classes are in recess for the summer months, a group of adult members want to continue to meet together for Bible study. They will meet on Sundays from 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the Lounge for a self-directed Bible study (both pastors will be at worship). Please join them at 9:00AM and you can then worship at the 10:30 AM service! |

Thrivent builds with Habitat for Humanity - July 19th |
|
First English & Bethel Lutheran are joining together on Saturday, July 19th from 8:30AM—3:30PM to help raise the walls for the Boswell & Norwood families!!! The building site is near Mt. Clemens, Joy Road/Gratiot area, 42551 Colchester, Clinton Twp, MI. 48036 . From the first nail to the last, building a home with Habitat for Humanity International is a profound experience for all involved. It’s not just sticks and blocks. It’s tears and smiles, borne of hard work and faith. And it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change lives. We need volunteers with or without building skills. The activity for this day is raising the second floor walls and roof trusses—there will be contractors on site to help supervise. 50% of the house needs to be built by Lutherans, so roll up your sleeves and help make a local family’s dream come true—the dream of home ownership. Come for the entire day or just part of the day, lunch will be provided by Bethel Lutheran Church. Part of Thrivent Financial’s mission as a faith-based membership organization is caring for others. FELC ANNUAL PICNIC - Sunday, July 20th |
Don’t miss the church picnic on Sunday, July 20th at noon at the Grosse Pointe Shores Park. Please bring a dish to share. There will be games, a pie eating contest and an opportunity to ‘dunk’ one another in the Pitchburst machine! Come enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the sun amongst friends.

First English Lutheran Preschool (FELP) - Updated Info. |
School Hours: 3 & 4 year olds: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:45-11:15 AM*
*There is a possibility of a separate Tuesday/Thursday 3 year old class as
enrollment dictates. Fees: Registration fee: $50. Tuition: approximately $970 per year for 3 year olds and
$1450 per year for 4 year olds; paid in monthly installments.
Adult/Child Ratio: 1:8 Program: We would like to assist you in preparing your child for their kindergarten and elementary years. Children of FELP will have a first school experience that will help develop a positive self-image and social and intellectual abilities in a structured and caring environment. Our program includes art, music, language, physical development, bible lessons, math, science and beginning reading concepts. Children will learn structure as they experience the school routine and enjoy active learning as they explore and create in a stimulating learning environment. Special Events: Special events are varied. They may include special guests (i.e. dentist or firefighter), child and parent open house, Christmas event, Easter egg hunt, end of year picnic, etc.. Parents are always welcome when their schedule allows them to visit the classroom and participate.
Certification: FELP is licensed with the State of Michigan. Our Director/lead teacher, Christine Simone, has a bachelor degree in Elementary Education and has also completed the graduate work necessary for an Early Childhood Education endorsement to her Michigan teacher certification. She has a variety of experiences in education at the preschool and elementary level and has been trained in first aid and CPR.

FELC Golf Outing Monday, Oct. 6 |
SAVE THE DATE First English is planning a Fellowship & Fundraiser Golf Outing on Monday, October 6, 2008. The event will take place at Gowanie Golf Club, located on South River Rd. in Mt. Clemens. The day will include lunch, golf, dinner, as well as, prizes, silent auction & raffles!! A dinner only option will also be available. Stay tuned for more info and volunteer opportunities…
